ASSET Resource Teacher Services

The following ASSET Resource Teacher services are part of the comprehensive membership and are available for purchase to menudriven and entry-level members.

Coaching/ Mentoring
An ASSET Resource Teacher can work with an individual teacher to help improve his/her science teaching skills.

• Coaching: Acting as an independent observer in the classroom the ART gathers information and provides feedback to
  the teacher to support module instruction.
• Mentoring: The ART meets with the teacher to plan a lesson, observes the lesson, facilitates reflection and provides feedback
  to the teacher.

Demo Lesson
An ASSET Resource Teacher works collaboratively with a classroom teacher to strengthen their ability to effectively implement a lesson.
Areas of focus may include lesson design, learning cycles, management of materials.

Study Group
An ASSET Resource Teacher will facilitate a team of teachers to build a shared understanding of an identified area of interest. Study groups
provide a structure for sharing and learning together over time. The ART can be scheduled to support your team for six hours as you:

• Study the latest research on teaching and learning.
• Monitor the impact of new practices on student achievement.
• Design instruction innovations.

 

Think Tank
An ASSET Resource Teacher facilitates grade-level teams in sharing ideas and establishing a collegial learning environment. The ART
can design a teacher think tank to meet the individual needs of a school district. Some of the strategies that can be addressed are:

• Using notebooks in a science classroom.
• Incorporating more inquiry into the module.
• Deepening the content within the module.

 

Consulting Services
An ASSET Resource teacher can provide support to a district leadership team by:

• Utilizing the ASSET Materials Framework to identify materials to support curriculum.
• Connecting ASSET materials to PA Science and Technology and Environmental and Ecology Standards through the
  ASSET Standards Matrices.
