ASSET Inc. announces new Board of Directors

 

ASSET Inc., a nonprofit education reform initiative that provides standards-based science education materials and teacher professional development programs to 3,000 teachers and 63,000 students in 40 school districts and private schools in southwestern Pa. , has elected new members to the ASSET Board of Directors. New members elected to serve three-year terms beginning July 1 include:

•  Rita Bean, Ph.D., Professor of Education, School of Education , University of Pittsburgh

•  Tim McNulty, Special Assistant to the Provost for Strategic Technology Initiatives, Carnegie Mellon University

•  Carlo Parravano, Ph.D., Executive Director, Merck Institute for Science Education

•  Cathy Samuels, Children's Miracle Network Director, Children's Hospital Coordinator

 

New officers named to the ASSET Board of Directors for the 2004-05 school year include:

•  Harry Goern , President

•  Cinda Herndon-King, Ph.D. , Vice President

•  Richard Rose , Treasurer

•  James Smoyer , Secretary

 

ASSET Inc. is an independent, nonprofit education reform initiative dedicated to continuously improve the teaching and learning process of teachers with initial efforts in K-8 science education. Students in 180 schools throughout member districts now experience science using hands-on, standards-based curriculum materials and are taught by teachers who receive professional development that is directly linked to the curriculum and incorporates an inquiry-based approach
