ASSET welcomes Plum Borough School District

as newest member

ASSET (Achieving Student Success Through Excellence in Teaching) Inc. welcomes Plum Borough School District as a new member for the 2004-05 school year. Plum Borough will implement ASSET's standards-based program of hands-on science materials and teacher professional development in its sixth grade classrooms.

“We think the ASSET program is very impressive and has a lot of hands-on manipulatives that students need to properly learn science,” said Donald A. Teti, assistant superintendent of the Plum Borough School District . “We believe the learning of science will be greatly impacted, and the ASSET program will assist our students in becoming proficient in science and prepared for the PSSA testing in science.”

ASSET Inc. is an independent, nonprofit, education reform initiative dedicated to continuously improve the teaching and learning process of teachers, with initial efforts in K-8 science education. ASSET provides standards-based science materials and teacher professional development to 39 school districts and private schools, serving approximately 3,000 teachers and 63,000 students in southwestern Pennsylvania .
